A wedding-card wholesaler in Rajasthan had zero coding background and used ChatGPT to design a full business management system from scratch. Here is the exact method, step by step.
This is a different kind of B*tchwork post.
Most weeks I show you the boring work my own AI did for me. This time I want to show you something genius that AI did for someone else. A real person, a real problem, a real win. Then I am going to hand you the exact steps so you can do the same thing.
I did not build a business system this week. But someone did, and the way they did it is the kind of thing that makes you stop and think.
Here is what happened.
A wedding-card wholesaler in Rajasthan, India ran his shop the old way. Paper records. Manual math. Software that did not quite match how his specific business worked. He had a clear picture in his head of what the perfect system would look like for his shop. Inventory that matched his product types. Billing that matched his rules. Accounting that matched his workflows.
He was not a programmer. He had no idea how to build it.
So he opened ChatGPT.
According to a post he shared on the OpenAI Developer Community in July 2026, he used ChatGPT and a tool called Codex to design the whole thing. Rules, workflows, accounting flows, screen layouts, and documentation. He described his business to AI in detail, module by module, and the AI helped him shape it into a real design.
He called it his dream ERP.
ERP stands for enterprise resource planning. It is the software that runs a business behind the scenes. The inventory. The orders. The billing. The customer records. The reports. Big companies pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for systems like this. This person designed one with a chat window and a lot of patience.
I read his post. The method is real. And it is something any small business owner can try.
What running a business without the right system costs you
If you have ever tried to run a business with software that does not fit, you know how it goes.
You copy the same information between three different places. You build workarounds in spreadsheets. You cannot find what you need when a customer calls. You are not sure what came in and what went out. The software the big companies use is either too expensive or so complicated it takes a course just to set it up.
Off-the-shelf software is built for the average business. Most businesses are not average. They have specific product types, specific rules, specific ways of handling customers and payments that do not map neatly onto whatever a generic system assumes.
The wholesaler in this story could not afford a custom developer to build exactly what he needed. He had a problem to solve and a free tool.
What you get in this one
I broke his method down into steps a total beginner can copy. By the end of this post you will have:
The way to explain your business to AI so it actually understands how it works
The copy-paste prompts for mapping out your system modules
The prompts for designing rules, workflows, and accounting flows
How to get AI to sketch your screens and write your specs
What AI cannot do in this process, and the one step you must not skip
You do not need to know anything about software to use this. That is the whole point.
Quick and honest note before we start
This is a design-assistant story, not a finished-and-shipped-software story. The original post is about using AI to design the system and generate code via Codex. It does not say the system is running in production, audited by an accountant, or verified by an outside developer. That matters.
Any business system that touches real money, real inventory, or real accounting needs a human to check the logic before you rely on it. Use this method to get a blueprint and a starting point. Do not skip the review step.
The post is self-reported and linked at the bottom of this article.
