I had the words. I handed the rest to AI. It rendered the cover, set the paywall, locked in the paid-only audience, and committed proof to git before I ever opened the Substack editor.
I hate the gap between "article is written" and "article is ready."
The writing part is work. But it is the kind of work I actually want to do. I sit down, I tell a story, I get it to a place I like.
Then comes the part I do not like.
Cover image. Right size or it gets cropped weird. Paid-only setting. Easy to miss. Paywall placement. Not too high, not too low. Buttons. Substack wants them in a specific format. Audience. Make sure free readers do not get the whole thing. Email setting. Has to be off or the whole list gets pinged the second it goes live.
Every one of those is a small thing. Together they take longer than I want them to. And I have made each one of those mistakes at least once.

Then it commits a proof file to git so I can see what ran and what passed.
