You paste something into a chat. It answers. You paste the next thing in. You are the copy and paste machine.
Working that way means the AI never sees your real work, so every answer is one step behind the thing you actually need.
Thirty five minutes, and you will have a connector added, you can say out loud what access you handed over, and you have ten of them in a safe order.
Beginners. No code and no setup file. It is a sign-in window, the same one you see any other day.
The proof behind this
Liz Elliott runs 33 active social brands and runs her whole operation on AI automations across several computers. She is not an engineer and did not study computer science. Connected tools are how a non-technical person gets that kind of reach.
What this lesson is
Lesson 7.1 of the free AI for Entrepreneurs course, in Module 7: Connecting Your Tools.
Most people use AI in a blank chat, which means the AI never sees your real work and you spend your time being a copy and paste machine. A connector fixes that. A connector is a bridge between Claude and an app you already use. Gmail. Your calendar. Your notes app. Your grocery app. You pick the app, you sign in once, and from then on Claude can go get the information itself. Think of it like giving a house sitter a key. You do not hand over the whole building. You hand over one key to one door, you tell them what they may do inside, and you can take the key back whenever you want. Two things are worth being clear about before you start. First, a connector is a real permission grant, and your email and your files are in there. That is the whole point of it, and it is also the reason to go slow. Second, most connectors are free, and when one costs money the cost usually sits on the app's side. Plan rules change often, so check your own account if the menu is missing.

What you will be able to do
Add a connector to Claude in under two minutes without any code.
Say out loud what access you handed over when you signed in.
Connect Gmail and get a list of what needs a reply today.
Put ten connectors in an order that puts your money last, not second.
Disconnect anything you no longer want Claude to reach.
Your first step
Add one connector before you add ten. Pick the app you paste into a chat most often, sign in when the window opens, and read the permission screen instead of clicking past it. Then say out loud what you just handed over. That habit matters more than the connector does, and it is the thing that keeps the next nine safe.
