You connect your inbox with one click and never look at what you just agreed to.
A connector does not only read. It can send, delete, move, share, edit records, and in some cases spend money. Read only access and action access wear the same connect button.
Thirty minutes, and every connected tool can draft but never send and never delete, and you know the four things that never go in a chat.
Beginners. This is settings work, not skill work, and it runs about a minute per tool.
The proof behind this
Liz Elliott runs her whole operation on AI automations across several computers, feeding 33 active social brands. Permissions get set before a tool gets used, not after.
What this lesson is
Lesson 6.4 of the free AI for Entrepreneurs course, in Module 6: Trust And Safety.
A few years ago the worst thing an AI could do to you was give you a bad answer. That changed when connectors arrived. A connector is a link between AI and one of your accounts. Your inbox, your files, your calendar, your books. Here is the part most people never check. A connector does not only read. It can send, delete, move, share, edit records, and in some cases spend money. So "is this safe" turns out to be the wrong question. Ask what exactly it can do, and who has to say yes first. Read only access to a bank might let it review your spending. Action access might let it move money. Those are two completely different risk levels wearing the same connect button. Think about handing someone your house keys. There is a difference between letting them come in and water the plants, and letting them sign for deliveries, throw things out, and answer your mail. The good news is that this is settings work. The catch is that it only protects you if you do it before you start using the tool.

What you will be able to do
Tell the difference between a tool AI can read and a tool AI can act with.
Set every connected tool so it can draft but never send, and never delete.
Run a check before you connect a bank, an inbox, or a health account.
Name the four things you should never paste into a chat.
Clean up old connectors and privacy settings in about ten minutes.
Your first step
Open your connector settings and read what each one is allowed to do. Not whether it is connected. What it may do. Most people have never looked, and about a minute per tool turns every one of them into draft but never send. Do the inbox first, because that is the one with the most reach.
